Thermal Energy Storage

Thermal Energy Storage (TES) for space cooling, also known as cool storage, chill storage, or cool thermal storage, is a cost-saving technique for allowing energy intensive, electrically driven cooling equipment to be predominantly operated during off-peak hours when electricity rates are lower. TES may be considered as a useful tool to reduce the number of refrigeration machines by means of spreading the daytime load over 24 hours period. Hence, any type of TES systems can be considered as a useful tool to reduce the overall environmental impact for a given cooling application.
